Rear disc brakes 1975 750F rear master cylinder
« on: March 03, 2017, 02:38:40 PM »
I need a new or reman rear master cylinder for my 1975 sohc 750 F I purchased a used one on ebay to rebuild, however it's in the same condition as my old one piston froze inside the cylinder my old unit is pitted... I did drill the old unit the froze piston installed a screw to remove the piston with success however I see the cylinder is a little pitted, the ebay unit... I have not been able to remove the piston, I'm soaking it with Kroil for a week now trying to used compressed air to blow it out, it's still stuck inside & I don't want to drill to remove. Anyone know where I can a new or a (good) used master? I see only 1975/76 750F are compatible...

Use a grease gun to pump the piston out; much more effective than compressed air.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

The 75 - 79 GL rear master is similar. The brake hose fitting is different with a straight outlet and no hose stop vs the 90 degree outlet on the F. Otherwise the same. Not many options other than continuing to source another and hoping for the best.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
