Hey guys!! I just found my way here through some searching. I'm from central PA and have recently picked up my 2nd CB750. I got a 1974 from a family friend two years ago with no title (I know, bad move on my part) with plans of doing a cafe/brat style kind of style. Well, long story short, I gave up since I didn't have a title. Well last week I just stumbled upon a 1972 CB750 local on craigslist for $200, complete bike with a title. I was there that afternoon to pick it up!! I noticed a few things that seemed off when I got there but the owner said he got the bike exactly how it was and didn't seem to know a whole lot about it. Once I got it home I really looked over it close and came to the conclusion that somebody had a 77 750F and put most of the parts on this bike (tank, forks which dual disc brake, rear disc brake, comstar wheels). The original frame is all intact except they had moved the mounts for the side covers and cut off the loops for the passenger pegs to mount the newer style with the rear brake hardware.
I think at this point my plan is going to be go over the whole bike mechanically and check the motor over real good and definitely go with new control cables and make sure its all safe and road worthy first then use the majority of the original parts from my first purchase to assemble the titled bike and do a flat seat with the rear hoop kind of cafe/brat style. Not really trying to follow one particular style or build, just taking things I like and mashing it together.
