Topic: 4-4 exhaust report

 The DSS exhaust arrived today. They have yamiya directions in the box and the Yamiya emblem on the outside. DSS opens the box and adds packing to the ends. This box had newspaper inside the Mach IV's were foamed but I think the same emblem was on the box. All four pipes came out beautiful.

 The bad news, I got no #1 and two #2's LOL. a 3 and 4 as expected. Did I hit the jackpot getting a spare #2? Yamiya has a #1 for $400 plus shipping. DSS was already closed before they arrived. I need to call in the AM. I'm sure they will make it right if I let them.

 I think this confirms my theory, the no number pipes are all the same manufacturer. No one could tell me before.

Can you let us know if the 3 and 4 equalizer tubes line up correctly when you install them? I have two of the sets that were built all wonky and they don't. I guess this was a bad run. Here is a link to what I'm talking about.

I had to order a center stand too since that was lost together with the 4-4 for many years ago.
I had to order the spigots when my 4-1 did not use them

I would say "jackpot". Those #2's are scarce. Buy the #1.

 The Email of exhaust photos circling the globe is underway, Japan, England and Illinois USA. The emails happen instantly but offices are not always open at the same time (and when I'm awake). The DSS rep was very nice, and easily understood my problem and offer to keep the extra #2 at some cost to me. It was just so obvious when I saw the rubber bumper brackets on the first 2 pipes out of the box. I decided against installing anything today although I think it would be OK.
 I'm very pleased so far.

So how much did they say you could pay keep the extra pipe, hopefully way lower than list ?

 Japan has to reply to England then England can tell me what they propose. We're waiting for the time zones to align with office hours.

  I'd assume the supplier's office in asia is open for business now and DSS is open at 3 am until 11:30 us central time.

  The replacement #1 will be sent directly from japan, they didn't address my request to purchase the spare #2. DSS said keep it handy they may request it's return. Yamiya has had #1 #3 and #4 listed separately so this may be the source if the missing #2.
 
  I wish Delkevic would make some cool 4-4 pipes. I'd spring for a set of awesome sounding non stockers.

 I installed a nice original #1  341 on top of a new #2 300 repro. It fits fine and the main difference that I can see is the end of the baffle. The connector tubes line up perfectly.

 Now I know it would work to mix and match 300's and 341's if needed to make a set. Of course this wouldn't be original or balance pressure for the purists but could get a guy on the road and looking right at 20 feet until a matched set could be found.

Z1 sells Honda CB 750 re-pops? Couldn't find them on their web site.

Not yet, website states  "New Vintage Kawasaki and Honda Exhaust Systems Under Developement and Nearing Production !!"

  Thanks, I've seen them (K7) reproduced and slightly cheaper than the earlier ones, there seems to be a supply of used ones too so I was curious.
  The F2 4-1 headers fit the early frames also but the 75/76 F0/F1 do not due to the brake pedal location.

 I have also bolted the Vance and Hines sidewinder made to fit the DOHC 750/900/1100 on a 72 750. It fits except it's likely to drag in a right hand turn. That leads me to wonder about other DOHC pipes. 

  I have an unknown origin 4-1 Yoshi looking header on my K0, The muffler is really long like a Dunstall but the angle of the pipes under the frame looks wrong for a sohc bike. I'm wondering if it was intended for a dohc frame.

sidewinder is gonna drag no matter what bike you put it on as its just for going down the 1320', just be careful turning on to the return road.

Would love to see pics of the Yosh look alike with the long muffler which, of course, means its not Yoshimura.
