 I can't find the fuel filter in the parts fiche. Does anyone know the Honda part #? It's a factory piece, mentioned in the FSM service schedule and shown in several pics. Plus, there's a bracket for it on the frame.

75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
  I love the small ones too !

Sport Demons are great tyres, I've got them on my BMW K100RS and my Harley XLH1200, and put some on my Yamaha FJ1200 and Honda CX500 Custom before I sold them.

It's always an easy trap to sing the benefits of a new tyre after riding a bike with crappy old tyres, then replacing them with soft new rubber, but the Sport Demons do inspire confidence, for sure. Cheers, Terry. ;D

G'Day mate, sorry I didn't reply earlier, I thought I had, but there you go, I'm losing my marbles. Actually I donated the FJ1200 and my "Big Wang" GL1200 to charity last year, and replaced them with a 2001 Yamaha FJR1300.

I paid $2K AUD for it, ($1500 USD) and it has been a brilliant bike, it's the highest mileage bike I've ever owned (145,000 miles) but has never been crashed or abused, and the previous owner (who'd ridden most of those miles) was absolutely fastidious with his maintenance regime, to the point where he was still using original Yamaha filters and oil, which he changed every 6000 miles. I've done around 3000 miles since I bought it, including a couple of 900 mile weekends, and it'll still do 150 MPH with a little left over.

It's got all the best parts that I loved so much with the FJ1200 and the big Goldwing, and with fuel injection, will return 50 miles per (imperial) gallon. I have to thin the herd, I've still got 13 bikes and no room for 9 of them, but I'm in no rush to sell the big Yam. Cheers, Terry. ;D

They are a pain.The stock has the collector box and it wants first:the rear mufflers,then loosen & remove the front pipes and then loosen the rear pipes and remove the collector box,if I remember correctly.. The oem stock is the only one I've ever dealt with.I hope you can find another complete oem stock system after you've tried this Kerker system:my guess would be that this Kerker will be great for top-end blast but could be quite lacking in low-midrange power.. but I really have 0 experience w/ the Kerker so it's just a wild guess.

Yep, and this was no loose tappet adjuster, worn cam bearing, bad valve guide, loose timing chain chewin up the case type cb750 boom...it was a big #$%*in' BOOM! this bike ain't gonna ever run again type boom.




...actually the damn thing still ran on three cylinders but it would not have for long

 On a more positive note, I did get both front master cylinders cleaned and pumping fluid and building pressure as they should. I pulled all the calipers and cleaned everything. Just waiting on new seals. I only need one piston, for the rear caliper. One of those was stuck pretty good and the rust ring was a little too bad for my liking, so I ordered a replacement. Only about $28 for an OEM piston.

My next door neighbor to me in the apartments i live in has a set of aftermarket fiberglass fairing lowers that he had on his VF500F and painted in the same colors as the bike in nice cond. I could take a couple pics of them for you if you're interested.

 Yes, rebuild kits are readily available and cheap. I'll see how it works when I flush it and bleed it.

Good people with great amounts of knowledge! Magnandy is the local carburetor Guru if you need one. Truly a valuable resource for these Honda V4's. Best of luck and enjoy the ride! They are fast, fun little bikes!

 Just registered. A couple of people have mentioned that site, but I wasn't sure if the "baby 'ceptor" fit the bill.

They lean a bit more towards the bigger 750 and 1000 cc Magnas but they are still very helpful with the 500cc as well. The Intercepter being a bit more rare, there is not as much knowledge about some aspects of the bike but there is still a wealth of helpful info on the forum. Including OEM service manuals (free download) for most of the V4's. Have fun!  :D
As a side note: the general consensus on the forum seems to be that the oiling problem you hear about did not effect the 500's.

 Got the fork oil changed and pulled the wheels so I can clean them up and mount the new Pirelli Sport Demon's. I'm STILL waiting on piston seals for the calipers. Why in the world does it take two weeks to send 10 ounces of rubber seals from Florida to South Carolina?!




 I pulled the collars, or sliding sleeves, on the calipers, too. That's probably part of the reason they weren't retracting properly, don't ya think?
