'74 CB550 Cafe/brat build- Battery
« on: February 10, 2017, 11:16:20 AM »
Wondering what others have used as far a batteries for their cafe/brat builds.  I'm going to be making a battery box under the seat and I am only going to be running electric start, headlight, and tail light only.  I'm sure there are other posts on this but I'm new to the forum and couldn't find any.  Thanks!

I like Antigravity 8 cells, but like alot of Li/Ion batts, occasionally they explode, LOL. I'm not worried about it.

The most power consuming  components on your motorcycle. Shorai is a popular brand with many. AntiGravity also.

Shorai for me but I put it under the swingarm mounted to the center stand mounts. Minimized the amount of stuff under the seat. You can barely see it from the picture below.

building my own life-po4 battery pack. same as the antigravity/shorai except half the price. found 12 cells on ebay already tabbed 4s.. will be using 2 packs for a DIY 4s2p build and the left over im gonna use a  junkyard battery.

just as an fyi, the cells i bought on Ebay are the same used in Shorai batteries; k2 Energy. all within spec. setting at 3.32/cell. Antigravity uses a123 cells which have a discharge rate of like 60C 🤔 i believe vs shorai's k2 energy cells which are 40C
