Cafe #1 2017 Deals Gap - Hoy Vintage Cycles
« on: February 10, 2017, 07:16:25 PM »
Hey guys im back in action working on my own bike. I sold the H1 (smart guy i know)!  Since April 2015 I started a Shop and have worked on over 130 bikes.    Ill post later, but i just finished a K2 semi resto for myself. Now im onto my first cafe build for ME!!

Details:
-The rear fender will be cut
-06 GSXR600 front end
-Cognito Moto front Hub, stainless spokes.
-Cognito triple tree
-Contour Protaper, Tusk clamps.
-75 frame
-No cutting on the frame
-Stock Tank
-Stock rear for now, Possibly YSS rear shocks, not decided.
-CR29's with velocitys
-Delcekic stainless 4-1  (for now)
-76 Engine,836cc, JE 10.5:1's, Web #341a, mild porting (mainly bowl work and short turn).  Head/jug are decked minimum needed for cleanup. All done by Matt Monday here in INDY

Im going with a sticker theme on the tank and sides.  This is a fairly quick build as i want to get done by early April to shake her down and be ready for our trip down at Deals Gap.
Thanks all!    all pics will be updated at www.Hoyvc.com

Or have it wrapped with a film that will not leave a sticky residue like many wraps will  leave , before you start the stickering to preserve the nice paint job...

Won't that pipe rotate upward?    Was about to order one of those Delkevic pipes myself.

I plan on rotating it upward and in to the bike.  As in taking the spacers out and the bracket off and mounting straight to the pass foot peg.  that should do it.

Ok im not a fab guy or welder. A buddy of mine who welds ok, helped me design the fender bracket and the tab on my headlight bracket.  I used a headlight bracket from a KZ,  angles the tabs to mount under the top triple to the bar mount bolts, then added a tab on the bottom for support.

I hear the back road may be more fun than the main road. Bike looks like a blast. I just got a 72 with a big bore kit of some sort running, it's a rocket compared to what I'm used to.

As she sits this will be how im running her at the Tail of The Dragon.    Threw on some CB1100F rear shocks and they feel great with the newer front end.  The old Konis were very stiff.

What a time at Deals Gap.  Bike was flawless.  I showed those two stroke how to corner!!

here are links to a few vids, hope you enjoy!

My first ever run up the dragon front the dragon inn
This was my first time at the Tail of the Dragon, first run up chasing the Carlson brothers on their two strokes.   GT380 resto mod and an RD350 with chambers.

The pass
Back story is I like cb750's and my buddy keith is a two stroke fanatic,  we did a build off and talked a lot of smack on who would run the best and corner.  He really thought he would out corner the cb750 but not the case.  Pass at 1:34

Drone shots at the Cherohala Skyway
what a beautiful area to throw the drone in the air,  I have much more video but did a short version to get online fast.  Next year we will script this out a bit and try the follow me mode!!

Chasing our old buddy Steve Starr on his SR500
Steve Starr is a 60 year old hard core biker who put together a bad ass SR500.  He knows how to corner well and I think the only thing keeping with in distance is the 836cc powerplant!!

The videos aren't loading for me at work so I will have to watch them when I get home.  I will be at the Dragon the first week of June.  Hopefully with my latest build.  BTW...CROT is at a higher elevation than the overlook so you are actually heading downhill, although it just doesn't seem like it.

How was the LEO presence?

CROT = Cross Roads Of Time.  That is the store, gas station, restaurant, mini hotel area where the vast majority of people start/stop a run to/from the overlook.  It is where 28 (aka Rossi Road) ends into 129.  When you leave there headed towards the overlook you go up a big hill which is why everyone presumes you are headed up to the overlook.

Nice bike, great videos, enjoyed the music too.  Best part is its getting me psyched to be there june 9th to ride that area.  Looking forward to the  dragon again.   Coincidentally... my first bike was a gt380 with clipons, but the closest we had to a dragon was the Wilmington Notch road near Lake Placid.  Thanks for sharing.  Kb
