Topic: 1972 SL125 - Got It Today

Found this SL125 on Modesto Craigslist - I bought one New In 1972 ,
I'm not sure if this is a Import ?
Anybody know anything about this model ?

Not sure if it is an import but I doubt it.  I seem to remember quite a few 125 CC Honda bikes back in the day.  What I can tell you is that it needs a good six volt battery for ease of starting.  Additionally, the battery is the voltage regulator and if the battery is either not present, not well connected or simply can't accept recharge current, you are gonna' fry every operating lamp in the bike with the flick of your high RPM wrist.  And you will likely spend $35 USD on an OEM Honda Stanley brand head light lamp.

  And hey - I used to live down the road from you in Atwater / Merced.  Nice area.

The exhaust looks different to what Honda sold in the U.S.
Only the 71 models here in the U.S. came in Strato Blue Metallic - one of three colors. 72 and 73 were Silver.
The Blue version had black tank stripes and they looked different. It could be a repaint.

If you don't have any other VIN number anywhere, I would guess it is a Japanese market bike. Probably something a GI brought with him from a stint over there.

For a change , I bought a Motorcycle with a Pink Slip. Although I go to Sacramento to All Vehicle Registration and for $50 Dollars I Don't Deal with the DMV hassles . The SL125 for $500 Dollars and a Pink Slip was a great deal I Think , Never know what will show up on C.L. - Hope you all Happy Hunting Out There .

I'm seeing 18" rear wheel, 21" front wheel at Motorera reference (for US market?).
And the upswept pipe like yours on the 1974.
Could your frame tag indicate a build date of 12/71?

My Honda documentation does not show a 1974 SL125 for the U.S. Only 71, 72 and 73. And all had a lower exhaust.

And the Marble Motors ad says it is a Japanese domestic bike.
