It may be worth while to  build your own no nonsense one. Get rid of any extra sensors and whatnot, also route it exactly how you want it, and instead of electrical tape and wire loom you can use the techflex stuff and have it look much cleaner.

I bought one from Matt at Sparckmoto.  Really eliminated a lot of unneeded wires, kept it simple.  he walked me through the install.  Highly recommended.

Lol, what sensors?   ;D

Seriously there are only three.  Clutch, brake, turn...well the last one is a buzzer.

Isn't there a neutral switch kickstand switch and so on? That might be the Yamaha and not the cb.. But none the less it's straight forward and worth while

The neutral switch is rather useful and worth keeping.

I havent seen an old cb with a kickstand safety.  But I agree, those can be annoying.

As far as factory wiring harnesses go, the cb550 is about as streamlined as they come.

agreed. i bought a harness for my 76' 550f from partnmore for about $100. ended up cutting about 7 wires from it, then  modifying it to use an older RH switch w/ aon/off headlights..and the 4pin ignition from a cb350. im still gonna have to shorten it by 2ft so it can fit underneat the tank, since ive gotten rid of the headlight bucket

all in all, i couldve used the OG harness that was chewed up by rats..or the cb500 harness that  the PO put on it to replace the 550 harness with. or just make a harness from the two if them.
