New from New Brunswick.... Now with Pictures!!!
« on: December 08, 2006, 03:50:31 PM »
Well I have been looking around this site for a while now but have only recently had time to post an introduction. Ny name is Nick, I'm 21 years old and a working university student. I recently just purchased my most recent CB750K in September of 2006. it is a 1973 model which is currently canary yellow. I purchased it for $900 and a new battery to get it running. after getting my licence i changed the oil, new filters, breaks, chain, sprockets, and cleaned the carbs. Over the christmas break i intend to get quite a few things done like fix the side covers, install my new seat, and what ever else i can cram into my short christmas holidays  ;D. My intentions with this particular bike is to restore it to its original state with the possibility of having many chrome accents (such as swing arm, hubs and lower forks). This is actulally my third CB750 as i got a 76 and a 78 for next to nothing cus my frends father died and he did not have the place to store them so i was the fortunate recipitant of them both, my intentions are to turn the 78 into a cafe racer over time (when i have the time)  well this is what i have on my plate for now and by the looks of i will be pretty busy for quite a while ande by the looks of this forum it will be helping me ALOT. sorry i dont have any pics posted but the bike is in storage for the winter but i will try to post somthing over the next few weeks

Later,
Nick

Hey everyone, it has been quite some time since I have last posted anything and I figured that I should post those pics I promised before I get to busy with my last semester of University (I will be graduating this spring  ;D)

Well anyways over the Christmas break I managed to get some things done to the old 750. I put the new seat on (a Christmas present) gave it a well deserved bath, fixed the dummy lights, semi fixed the break squeal (although I'm pretty sure it needs to be rebuilt), and did some other basic maintenance (rust check and that kind of stuff).

Well as promised here are the pics of my 73 CB750K, and I do appreciate your comments, questions and suggestions  :)

Sorry I couldn't get them on her with the text or that I couldnt get more pics up. This digital camera thing is somewhat new to me  :P

Hey Nick,
Good buy and I hope it runs well. I see from the left side of your engine you have a slight head gasket leak (the fins looked oil stained) so just something to think about. The gas tank is later than `75 as the petcock is on the left side (1973 tanks had the petcock on the right side). If I were you Id change those yellow mirrors!! but hey thats just my personal taste  ;). Anyway keep us posted on progress. If you look in my gallery (see signature at bottom) you will see I also like the chrome stuff - this is my rebuilt K2 with polished lower forks, chrome mudguard, chrome alternator covr (to install), chrome gear cover, gauges, grips, headlight shell etc etc....

Good luck and welcome!
Andy

Hey Nick, welcome from another canary yellow ('77 750) owner.  I'm with Andy on the mirrors.  I got mine with black ones, and one of the first things I did was replace them with OEM chome ones.  Check the link in my sig if you want to see how it looks.

Thanks for the input guys. I agree with all of you that the yellow  mirrors need to change, they look aweful. and the oil leak has been fixed it was actually the tach cable seal that was leaking so that was an easy fix (and i know its weird that the oil ran all the way to the left side ???). andy your bilke looks awesome with all the chrome and polishing, so far i have added a chrome sproket cover, and chrome carb buckets. although i have a whole rubbermade tub full of chome parts (front and rear hubs, triple tree, swingarm break assembly break caliper, hubs lower forks, and the list goes on) that came with my 76 that are just waiting for a new home on the 73  ;D.

Long live canary yellow! You're not thinking of painting it, are you?
