Putting the starter clutch and alt rotor back on.  Can't find the torque value for that bolt.  Anybody know?   I don't see it in my manual.

Clymer lists it at 22-29 ft. lbs.

The factory manual shows two different values; 57.9- 65.2 ft/lbs, and 72.3- 86.7 ft/lbs.

I think Dino said in his Hackaweek series that it was 75 ft/lbs.

Scottly, Which version manual(s) and where was it? I scanned early and late versions and could not find it. Must not have been thorough enough.

OK thanks. In my early manual, version 70.4, it is in Group 3-6, page 45. Shows 72.3 ft/lbs.

I used an electrical wheel impact wrench while wife was standing on the crank placed on a thick wooden plank. I hope it tightened enough. I did not tighten that long, only until it started to hammer and 2-3 sec more.
Bolt threads locked with blue Loctite as it was before and same wrench had to work for a while (about 20 sec) to loosen it from my old crank. A friend was standing on the crank.

Both crank and alternator are now lightened, before only alternator. This might have an affect on needed torque too?
EDIT: The old CB750 shop manual specify 72.3 ft lbs (Group 2 page 53)

Is the consensus here to use loc-tite on that bolt ?

Does this work like the rotor on my KLR where the rotor itself is a press fit, and the bolt kind of just pushes it on there? On the KLR I think you're supposed to go to something like 40, then 80, which could explain the multiple torque values.

I just didn't bother removing it when I rebuilt my engine. No real reason to IMO unless you're getting the crank lightened/balanced.

My local tuner locked that bolt to summer -84. I did not use the bike that much after that,  40.000km until I removed it again due to crank swap.
It sat really good with  thread locker which I noticed when loosen it one year ago.
I used medium strenght Loctite, blue. Not the tough 272. Cleaned bolt and treads with acetone before.
