these covers look as if off production tools, not sand cast... makes you wonder if Honda was considering taking a three valve 500/550 to production. it was at a time they did the three valve  CB400N, so go guess

There is some trick stuff on that bike.  And if the tach is any indication, it revs to the moon and back.

honda claim peak power at 11K, not the full 15K you see on the clock, so kinda halfway to the moon :)
but yes, for a very overbored 500, peak hp 11k rpm is high, the two inlets valves must have helped here.
