Innerchangable side covers.
« on: February 21, 2017, 05:38:11 am »
I am missing a left side cover for my 73 K3. Are there other years or models that are the same?

Are you talking an engine transmission cover or a plastic body part cover over the electrics ??  If an engine tranny cover any 1971 through 1976 will fit, later ones had a shift pattern emblem embossed. Body side covers will fit also from those years but had different emblem styles.

Thanks. I am talking about the electrics plastic side covers. So 71-76 covers are the same, but with different emblems?

Correct.71 and 72 had a script logo and 73-76 had a larger different style emblem panel. 71 had a red jewel and all others orange.

That's what I did, as my left side one had a tab missing. Heck of a lot cheaper than the $400 I spent on a pair of NOS side covers for an '82 GS450!

The only issue with these is because they're sold as 71-76, the 73+ with the larger emblem, it's not a perfect fit

These look like they're only a perfect match (in terms of the script badge fitting).

The original '73 covers on my bike are that way after I checked. They just changed the size of the badge and kept the cover the same.
