Which chain do you recommend?
« on: February 21, 2017, 09:13:01 AM »
Who knows the chain TRP?

http://www.trp-products.com/c2.html
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-TRP-50-5-8-IN-50FT-SINGLE-STRAND-RIVETED-ROLLER-CHAIN-D524451-/291741179337

I am looking for a chain to my CB750K4, but in the PL I do not have much of a choice. I can buy in the PL DID chains. But I'm not convinced them. What do you recommend?

DID is fine
EK and RK chains are known brands as well.  All typically under $50US.
It is common practice to add new sprockets when a new chain is installed.
I think my EK 530 HD chain and new sprockets was under $80
Euro sites like cmsnl.com might save you on that crazy $85 shipping  :o

Will this be ok (DID 530VX) ?
Is it better to take (DID 530 ZVMX)?

I think either of those chains would be fine, but x-ring chains are overkill.
Heavy Duty (Non O/X-ring) chains have more tensile strength than our bikes need, and will wear well with a little care, at a fraction of the cost.

Shop in PL proposed to me yet chains:
- RK 530XSOZ1
- RK GB530XSOZ1
- RK 530KRX
Which one should I take? DID or RK? Of course I change chain with sprockets

I have ordered both. 530VX for my CB750 K2 that will get max 80-85 rwhp.
ZVMX as replacement for my strong DC chain my K6 have now and have much left of. This has 1000cc and must enter the 90-100 rwhp area! :)

If you live in Europe, order from here since they have a really good price. They have sprockets too. I missed 46 rear for an eventual 16" wheel
www.motorradteile-hamburg.de
www.leovince-hamburg.de
The homepages differ a little. One has more parts for CB750, the other has a complete chainkit with sprockets. No problem to order chain and sprockets separate.

I ordered extra master links too since it is easy to make a mistake when riveting. The chain might need to be opened too.
I have pulled engine twice  and removed rear wheel without open the chain.

Edit:
X-ring chain feels like a standard chain today. Order open with master link (offen mit nietschloss)

If you can get Tsubaki  530 QR, that is what I would use.
They may not make it any more.

They have chain only too. http://www.leovince-hamburg.de/product_info.php?products_id=1062   (100 links for CB750, 18:48/17:48)
But check the sprockets for wear. If the teeth start to look lika waves a windy day a new chain will not last long.
Be sure to order an open chain. You need a tool for riveting too. These hollow master links are easier to do.

You'll find more CB750 stuff here (same company, different site)
http://www.motorradteile-hamburg.de/kategorien-motorrad?fid=7972
chains and sprockets here: http://www.motorradteile-hamburg.de/produkte-motorrad?fid=7972&cid=5

They sell oil filter, cables and other good stuff to have in stock.  Boring if something small like a throttle/clucth wire will fail during the season and need to wait 1-2 weeks for a new :(

Just make sure you have enough space between the front sprocket and your case. It can eat a hole through there.

No problem with clearance chain and case on a CB750. I have a strong chain and I doubt there is a thicker one except for 630 chain  that the later CB750's have.
DC chain DC530MZX-G . I have 18t sprocket. 17t work finr too 48t rear.

It is the 500/550 that can have issues with thicker o-ring chains according to this forum. The problem with broken CB750 cases is caused by too thin chain.

That's a damned good chain. I had several of them, be it the somewhat cheaper non nickel plated version of it. Good price too. I'd order it myself were it not for the shipping costs and import tax.

Caclulate the total cost since that chain will be shipped from USA. You might get customs fee + vat too.

I am consistently getting my bikes mixed up.  You're right - 550 is the "rubbing" problem. Carry on. Sorry for the intrusion. ;)
