My 750K2 started having problems shifting, sometimes feeling like it was getting hung up between shifts or shifting roughly. I took the advise here and added the zinc additive to my oil. After about thirty miles, I could feel the difference. Now, (as of last summer) it shifts smoothly with a solid engagement in each gear. Just want to say "thanks".

Yup.  Zinc is the best!  Been using it in my truck.  Just added a bottle of zddp+ to Bloo with an oil change.  About 50 miles on, should be hearing less transmission whine with my next tank of gas.

+1. Hard shifting 74 CB450, after 3 oz Rislone zinc, smoothed right out.

Not rislone.  STP high mileage engine treatment w/zinc.  So far, so good.

Some additives contains anti fricĂ­ton stuff like Moly, MoS2. Edit: Anti friction stuff might cause clutch slip.
I read the label more careful too late when I had filled engine with oil. Drained the new oil and refilled without the additive.

My engine is in the break-in phase when worse oil is needed so the rings can be grinded to seal. Anti friction stuff really NOT needed then. Opposite is needed :)

I'll change oil, simple 15W-40 semi-synth motorcycle oil once more after 50km. Run that for 1000km, drain the oil and give it a good oil with plenty of zinc included from the very beginning.
Maybe a quick change shortly after to remove almost all residues of the cheap oil.

I'm too tired to respond to all these continuing myths and nonsense like put in this thread. It's obvious that some of you have no idea how an additive like zinc works and how little in fact you need. Quantity doesn't equal quality, but (sigh) try to get that across in a market that has been bombarded by this strategy of 'Supersizing' everything. And then this: if you ad stuff to a balanced oil that you don't have the formula of, you just don't know what you are doing.

How about the 3rd party analysis of zinc content in various oils?  Maybe the old epa mandate restricting zinc content in oils?

Like Delta said those additives usually have other things in them that are not good for our wet clutches.
In further posts in one of the other threads we came to the consensus that the only way to have the proper amounts of zinc in your oil was to buy it with it already inside without the other yucky crap.

The answer we came up with was a wonderful oil called Spectro. I'll try to link to the thread (it is in the performance section) but even Mark agreed that was the best way to go since nobody knows the deleterious effects of the other additives they put in the ZDDP+ and Rislone. Plus, Rislone says in the data sheet NOT to use it with wet clutches.

I found one link here, 10% lower price than RedLine I have 20 bottles of waiting to be used. (Smooth gear shifts)
I ordered from UK so several oil changes needed.
I order my car oil from Germany, 24L last time....There 1/3 of the price here. :(

Sometimes a good old fashion oil change with dino oil works fine to fix slipping or sticky clutch problems. Any time I feel something weird with the shifting I change the oil and it usually goes away. These bikes need the oil changed pretty frequently anyway. I've never added anything to the oil after the change, maybe add some cleaner just before. I do mostly city riding with lots of shifting, no problemo. If it's anything more than that, oil won't fix your problem you need to start in on the clutch, cable adjust, new cable, new clutch, etc.
