And there is even some aftermarket guards that cover the entire chain. There was one on my first KO when I got it.

And just to confuse the issue further, the later K0's had a longer chainguard that isn't the same as the K1 chainguard............. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Well I don't have a pic guys, but I know a bloke who bought one for his K1 and still has it, so next time I drop in I'm gonna take a pic. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Today I wanted to mock up some 4 -2 exhaust I have here to check how they looked. I just can't see spending $2K on some HM300's and since this is a patina bike new pipes would look odd here. Yes, OEM 4 - 4 would look better, but what do you think of the look here.

If you shop ebay regularly, you can get used 300s pretty reasonable. I just bought both right side pipes in decent shape for 180 each. They have a couple little dings, but no holes and the chrome will clean up ok.

Yeah, no offence John, but those pipes look sh1t. I understand not spending serious money, but you should be able to pick up something better for not too much. Eric's probably got something hanging in his garage that he's sell you, or maybe Bill Benton? Cheers, Terry. ;D

+1 to the above. Used pipes are out there, may take some patience to find them.

I hear you guys...that is why I did a mock up just to get some opinions. The search is on...I do have a nice set of 341's I could put on until I find the 300's.

Far from an expert Stev-o...that would be Hondaman :)  KO vs K1 chain guards. They are both plastic. The KO measures 23 3/4 inches vs the K1 at 25 7/8 inches. You can easily see the difference in the first pic. On the bike the first pic is of the KO and 2nd pic of the K1.
so did the k1 bolt on to the ko?thought the bolt spacing was diff after ko,looking at some and not sure on which one of the longer ones fit, there was a mod during ko to a longer one.bill

Yes, the bolt pattern was the same KO to K1.

The center and side stand looked pretty bad so I decided to paint them. Yes, it's the patina bike, but as you know to paint those you have to remove the exhaust. I thought I could save the next owner the time and hassle and do it while the pipes are still off.

Glory be...Bill Benton found me an air box for this KO. No cracks and all mounting pieces are solid. I am giving up on the PO kids who promised to let me to through the barn to find the 750 parts. Contrary to the lip service I got when I bought the bike.

The Honda gods (you guys) have spoken. I removed that 4-2 exhaust and put on some extra 341's I have been saving. Nothing like the OEM 4-4...man they fit nice. And no way you can beat the look of these 4-4 pipes. They scream 70's. Here are some before and after pics. The first 3 pics look pretty blah...

Yep, good plan John, and if you get your drill out, you can make them work just as well as HM300's. ;D

Good choice, for me, there is no better looking set of pipes that have ever been installed on a stock bike. The sound is totally unique. Of course, back in the day, when someone pulled up behind you, it was obvious you were on a 4 cylinder bike. The only other bike that had as pleasing a style was the early Z1.
