I have a fairly stock cb 750f1 black and yellow.  The seat was not ripped when I found it and brought it back to life.  I put on about 500-600 miles a summer.  I noticed the seats started pulling apart at on of the seams and is now about 2-3 inches long.  Any ideas of fixing or replacing the seat cover.  I want the bike to stay mostly original and don't want junk on the seat.  Looking around the F1 seat was a little different and harder to find a good seat cover.  My butt gets numb on the bike after long rides so wondering if new foam or different foam might help.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I found one on ebay and installed it myself. It looked like a new one. The bike recently sold and brought good money.

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
After 40-odd years the foam is probably buggared anyway mate, so why not take it to an upholsterer and get a seat made to your design? Just putting a new cover on will certainly make it look better, but not any more comfortable. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Some guys trim the Honda foam and put memory foam on top of it. My sandcast seat foam was made of multiple sections taped together. I was surprised the joints didn't show through but it looked good even though it fell apart when I removed the cover.
The Super sport seat doesn't leave a lot of room for modifications that look right and stitched seats soak water if they get wet, never seem to dry out and rust the seat pan. Just my opinions though.
