Greetings from NC
« on: March 07, 2017, 06:53:25 PM »
Hey all!

My name's Jake- just moved to NC for the Air Force and just this past weekend finally picked up a SOHC this weekend- an 82 CB650.  Only has 18260 on the odometer (assuming that's accurate).  Been lusting after the SOHCs for years but never found one at this price.  Hasn't run in a while, but the engine turns over by hand.  Needs a good bit of work but that's the fun!  I'll try and get some better pictures of it up here at some point.  .  Not exactly sure what route I want to go when rebuilding and customizing it... .  Inputs are more than welcome!!

This forum has been amazing for all my research, and now that I finally have the bike I signed up.  Can't wait to share the process and learn a bunch from everyone.

Jake

You working out of Ft Bragg, JDP? I'll be visiting that area quite regularly this Fall as my #2 boy is heading to Methodist for IndEng and Soccer.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
