Neutral Switch Rotor

Does the brass side of the rotor for the neutral switch face inward toward the motor or face outward away from the engine?
75' CB550K -- Still in pieces but it rolls again!!!!

Really? When I have installed that way I get no dummy light on my Acewell. When I install it inward the light works...

That is what I thought and had it installed like that. Flipped it (to test) and then it started to function?
