« on: March 08, 2017, 09:54:47 AM »
Just picked up an 83 KX750 L3.  Any similar forums out there?

Right off the bat, I need a rear mag wheel for it
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Good to know -- I've got a KZ400D but so far all I've needed is a manual and the local boneyard. One thing I had trouble with -- there doesn't seem to be a good online microfiche for parts like Honda -- the ones I've seen go back to 1980 or something...

I found the absolute best source for NLA-NOS Kawasaki parts about 25 miles from my home. It's called Johnny's Vintage Cycle.
Johnny has been buying Kawasaki dealer inventories for years and has almost everything you need. when I restored my 1982 KZ1300 and my 1973 H1, the place was invaluable.

I've bought parts from him, primarily on ebay.

;D ;D There are no deals on ebay anymore.

Johnny is a shrewd businessman. He knows well what parts are rare and what the going rate is. I am lucky to be close enough to his place to go there in person. I have known him for quite some time now and he has always treated me fair.
At one point, he priced his hard parts based on the original Kawasaki price list from 1995. he may still do this for some stuff, but most things Kawa is getting so rare that demand pushes prices into the stratosphere. Especially for H2s because everybody suddenly wants one and most of them need a lot of stuff because the majority of the bikes were butchered.

After some of the cb750's I bought last fall have new homes I'm keeping an eye on a z1 and a gpz1100 sitting in a barn. Did I mention I despise mice?  Once I was cutting apart mouse infested seats looking while for a good seat pan out of the collection I bought and think I caught the plague.

My brother was a Kawi mechanic for a couple years when the 900's and 1,000's came out.
