Clutch Adjustment
« on: August 25, 2018, 07:10:14 AM »
Have a 750 F and was wondering if the clutch can be adjusted at the lower (clutch housing) connection. I see what appears to be an adjustment fitting, but it could just be a retainer. My clutch cable can not be adjusted any further in, and I don't want to take a long walk (or slip the clutch unnecessarily).  Thanks for any replies.

In the directions they say first you adjust under the chrome clutch cover . Loosen lock nut and turn the threaded shaft till resistance is felt the back off 1/4-1/2 turn. You should have the adjuster at the lever backed all the way in doing that. Next you adjust the bottom of the cable where it goes in the case till there is a certain amount of play at the lever. Then you do the final adjust  at the lever with that adjuster.

not to hijack this thread but when you adjust at the cover does turning the screw further away from the snug point allow for sooner clutch engagement at the lever or is it closer to snug point that does this?

Loosened lever connection completely, and then turned the in adjuster at the clutch until had some freeplay at the lever.
Haven't ridden it yet with changes, but it has to be somewhat better.
Thanks to those who responded.

i ended up answering my own question by trying it.  1/2 turn out better than 1/4 turn out from snug makes the clutch engage sooner when releasing the lever.
