Better wheel bearing seal? -2RSH
« on: March 20, 2017, 10:14:23 AM »
I could not resist to order 2 sets of wheel bearings today when I found SKF 2RSH.
http://www.skf.com/group/news-and-media/news-search/2017-03-13-high-performance-seal-option-now-available-on-an-extended-range-of-skf-explorer-deep-groove-ball-bearings.html?WT.oss=rsh&WT.z_oss_boost=0&tabname=All&WT.z_oss_rank=1

Perfect for wheels, right? Dust protection fine for the brake side.
A secondary lip on the seal withstands high pressure cleaning and offers increased resistance to the ingress of dust and other contaminants, while the seal’s internal geometry has been optimised for smooth running and improved grease retention.

BearingshopUK write:
Generally used for wheel bearings or any application where dust or moisture is present, sealed bearings have rubber seals that contact both the inner and outer race of the bearing preventing moisture and dust from damaging the bearing.

Rear hub   2X SKF  6304-2RSH  http://www.bearingshopuk.co.uk/6304-2rsh/
Sprocket   1 x SKF 6305-2RSH  http://www.bearingshopuk.co.uk/6305-2rsh/

- Anyone that has tried these?

I let my All Balls sets rest on the shelf. I know that SKF brand is higher quality in general. Now improved sealing made it easy to change my mind. My new rear HA 7-star wheel is worth a good set of new bearings.

Ship from USA to Europe cost some more....like $30-40 or more  for shipping only :(
I guess UK shop ship for good price on this side, USA within USA.

I'll see which version I'll get. Hopefully not C3 which might have too much clearance

normal bearings hold up for 25 or more years..so your brake pads and tires vill be thanged up to 4 times in that timespand..and make removal of the Wheels nessesery anyvay...have you have veared aut bearings??..think not Money can be safed ..or better ride comford use this dobbel Sealed bearings
..rubbersealed normal rs bearings..have less restistens in roll too..but that is normaly only a problem in ventilators/fanns vho have a veak start momentum..not a problen on mc..

the first bearings did not even have dust sealing..in the erlyer cb"s..so even a normal rs is a great improving
i kan not speak english/but trying!!

Seriously, sealed bearings last 10's of thousands of miles already, I wouldn't bother spending a bunch more just for a few extra years on a wheel bearing.

If the seal will not keep together and let dust and water in, the bearing will ruin rather quick. These 2RSH bearings cost not more than other bearings of a good brand.
