Carb help
« on: March 13, 2017, 05:22:14 pm »
I'm about to rebuild some 2 stroke carbs. There is a tube that goes from one carb , near the rubber boot , to the back side of the fuel petcocks. I bought a new one, but the backside connection is missing. Can I do without it, or is it some kind of vacuum .

Yamaha? More info would help, but some petcocks are indeed vacuum operated.

Sorry, I know better. It's a 72 Suzuki t250. Just never had a two stroke before. Got the service manual. Will I need to rebuild the original petcocks?

If your petcock looks like this one then it is a gravity fed and not vacuum operated off the carb.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/192127087258?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true
A picture would help, may be a vent tube.

Upon further research, I found that the extra tube runs a diaphragm that closes the petcocks when not in use. The petcocks doesn't have a "off" position, so the diaphragm acts as one. The new petcocks has an off position, so the extra tube isn't needed. Just have to cap the tube on the carb.

Thanks for the feedback

Bob :)
