The rubber on my CB400F kickstarter is coming off.
« on: March 21, 2017, 08:50:30 AM »
Hey guys like the title says, the rubber pad my kickstarter is sliding off. Is there a good way to get it back on? I.E. rubber mallet to the side of it, lubricant, etc.?

Thanks.

In the old days we put lighter fluid on the metal then put the rubber on I think it kinda melts the rubber to the metal. Used it on such as yours and hand grips. But nowadays they make a glue just for grips etc

Heat it with a heat gun. Any lubricant you put on there will definitely help it slide on...and off. Some people use hair spray for grips because as it's slippery when wet but sticks when dry. You could try that.

I forgot about hairspray - great idea.  I was going to suggest plain old rubbing alcohol.  Super slippery until it evaporates.  Works great on bicycle grips, anyway.

Save weight, throw it away.
