KEIHIN carburetor jets
« on: March 18, 2017, 08:48:26 AM »
Does anyone know where I can get slow/idle jets for keihin PD42a carburetors? They are for a 1978 cb750. These are the press in type. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I just cleaned mine. I used a piece of speaker wire and carb cleaner. Only one thread of the wire would fit in the hole.

E string from a guitar can work on some of the jet holes... Honda sells a jet wire kit designed for cleaning the carb holes...  Expensive but, it will not damage the jet holes by forcing a wire that is too big...

Sometimes the Zinc alloy in the carbs builds up in the jets, it needs to be cleaned out...if you can chase the tiny passages with compressed air, a wire, and carb cleaner it is good. If you have access to an industrial Ultrasonic machine, even better. The brass has to come out before cleaning any method you use.
But, it sounds like you have the brass out.

Does Sirius Consolidated in Canada have the PD42 carb parts?
How about mother Honda?  Granted the later is only going to possibly have the stock jet sizes.

Post your solution if you find one, Hopefully, someone will step up that knows the CB750 carbs you are looking for and can point you in the right direction. There is a thread about 78s on the site...

Thanks David for your response. I did find the jets available at JETS R US but they want about $11 apiece for them, too much. I ended up using a #80 drill and my fingers to rotate it to clean the jets. The # 80 drill is .0135 and the .35 jet is very close to that. I might have opened them up .001 to .002. It should not be a problem because my bike is running with pods. Putting everything back together I broke my throttle cable and now I have to wait to see how it runs. Thank you for your help and advise.

For pods, you'll need to run #40s.  #42s if you are running an open exhaust.
If your 35s require more than 2.5 turns out of your IMS to get a clean burn and tan deposits on your plugs, youve confirmed you need to go to (at least) #40s

$11ea is nothing when you could spend hours trying to tune w/ shiit aftermarket jets  ;)
