Period appropriate jackets??
« on: March 22, 2017, 09:10:57 AM »
Hello again,

I recently asked about what sort of helmets some of you wear and got a good response.  My bike is restored to look fairly original, so I want to be modern, comfortable, and safe, whilst maintaining a bit of a 70's look.

I'm looking at jackets now.  I live in Texas and I prefer to wear a jacket for the safety, and for keeping the sun off me.  The temps here probably rule out leather, and most leather jackets are pretty expensive anyhow.

Does anyone have any suggestions of good, protective, cooling jackets that don't scream sportsbike or harley?

I quite like this one:  https://www.revzilla.com/product/joe-rocket-ufo-20-jacket

^^^Looks good.
My Scorpion Stinger leather jacket (looks very similar) is perforated.
Yeah, it gets hot when not moving, but the protection is great.  I just avoid traffic lights.  ;D
I do have a cortex armored mesh jacket for those really hot days.  Its light wearing a tshirt.

Look around there is sometimes cool vintage used leather jackets around.
I think we are almost as hot up here.
My buddy used to get leathers made by Bates. He had sleeves made..more like a jacket that ended about 8 inches below the neck.... Nice for hot days.
