CB750 Primary Chain Tensioner
« on: March 22, 2017, 01:06:27 PM »
Doing a complete rebuild on my CB750K2 engine.
Would like to know if anyone has installed the CycleX Primary Chain Tensioner with the new type of rubber wheel also the uprated needle roller bearings which are installed in that Tensioner. Also their uprated Primary chains which look to be more heavy duty than the standard Honda chains which were originally installed. I do remember from the day that these engines did have a big rattle in the engine which was from the primary chains..
They state that that the Primary Tensioner is a lifetime part what ever that means and they do have some great parts which are available on the CycleX website.
Or do I just purchase a new Honda parts from Yamiya?

I installed new primary chains and the tensioner unit (white roller) from cycle x.
Nice parts.

Im using their tensioner assembly and had the primary drive refurbished by them with new needle bearings and rubber cushoins. Have yet to put any miles on the parts but no fitment issues and CycleX was good to deal with. Using OEM primay chains from yamiya750, they had the lowest price I could find for the chains.

I too am using that tensioner along with their HD chains and cam tensioner. 5500 miles on it all. Also, I just split my cases to replace a seal (dumb mistake on initial rebuild) and the tensioner wheel showed zero wear. I say buy with confidence.

Rocky,
The cyclex tensioner is on an exchange basis. So you've got to factor in shipping your old part from Oz or stumping up some extra $$.
Yamiya only recently got the Honda primary tensioner back into stock. It was unavailable for a while from Yamiya, CMSNL & DSS.
So I wouldn't leave decision for too long.

Thanks guys for the info really appreciate it.
Disco I did notice that Yamiya have the Tensioner back in stock.
Still undecided whether to go stock or Cyclex.
Or I might just get the stock as well as the Cyclex, have best of both worlds :)

HD prim. chain

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,154183.25.html

By it here or find locally in your place. Shorten in it for 2 links(read the forum post up I forget for how much you need to shorten it). And then you get HD chain for less then half of the price

Rattle of the prim chain is not because of material used. Cycle x prim tensioner will not solve the noise. Probably it will last longer.  But then again also the weak link is spring in chain tensioner. Spring will loose tension before roller wears off...
