Topic: CB500 from Atlanta

Hey everyone.

After a long time reading, finally decided to join up. I'm a college student and enjoy working on bikes in my free time. I've owned several DOHC CB750s but most recently I picked up a '72 CB500 that I'm restoring and plan to keep for a while. It's very clean and in good shape. It did not run when I bought it and I'm in the process of rebuilding the carbs. Looking forward to getting it on the road! I attached some pictures but not sure if I'm allowed to with only 1 post? Would love to show everyone the bike

Pretty. Re-use the stock brass! Clean them well and thoroughly. Ditch the aftermarket rebuild kits except for o-rings and gaskets.

I already put in the new brass jets from the K&L kit. Would you recommend swapping back to the original? Carbs are still off the bike so its hardly any work. I just figured the new stuff is all nice and clean.

+1 to Cal. I initially did not follow this advice and endured the agony of removing and installing those CB500 carbs several times.

You will be much happier cleaning the original Keihin brass and reinstalling it rather than anything in the aftermarket kit.
