For your viewing pleasure
« on: December 11, 2006, 03:50:31 PM »
To the new guys, hello.  To the rest, this is not being posted so that you will have another chance to critisize, tear down, insult, or belittle me or my builds.  If you like it, great- so do I.  If you have anything negative to say, please don't.  Five months of my life have went into this bike and there are more details about it's construction than I would have thought possible five months ago.  It is built to match the picture inside a customers head, and that my friends, was a big job.

I will answer a few obvious questions right out of the gate,

The seat had to be split down the middle, streched wider and re fiberglassed to match up to the fat 750 frame.

I made the muffler

It is a 4 1/4" rear rim with a 90/130 x 18" tire.

No, the guy doesn't like Earnhart- just the #3

Yes, those indentions where a #$%*-  but ohhhhh so worth it.

Yes, I think you are on crack cocaine if you want to say anything negative about it.

Yes, I am still arrogant.

No, I won't change.

JP

P.S.- ieism;  Thanks for standing up for me when others where picking and choosing how to quote me.  I only wish that post had stayed up a little longer for more to read.  Also, for anyone out there that I may PM......PM stands for Private Message.

Thanks,

There are still a few loose ends that I will tighten up this week and then I will deliver the bike this weekend.

Nice work on the tank and seat. Definitely looks lean and quick :)      What type of brake are ya running up front?  Any goodies "under the hood"?

That bike is a work of art. From what I can see from your pics the paint job is as good as OCC. The only problem I see is with your customer iin that he does not like Earnhardt.

I really appreciate the comments guys.  Tonight I will be putting on the grips, tucking in some wires up front, getting the signals to work, and messing with the speedo gear.

Yes, it is a tail section that was designed for a Yamaha XS650- modified.

The front brake is a stock hub and disc setup from a '73, but the caliper and forks are from the '78.  This was due to purchasing the wrong style hub to be laced to the new wheel and spokes- I didn't know they changed in '77 and '78.

A couple of things that I would like to draw attention to:

The rear signal lights are the nuts that screw onto the uper shock mount.  I thought this was really really trick.  The rear of the frame had to be cut off, therefore the only place to use was the upper mounts.  I like.

The rear wheel.  It is a chrome Excell rim made for a Harley.  It looks great, but if you ever do this- DO NOT LET YOUR LOCAL MECHANIC TOUCH IT!  Just send your hub to Ken at the cyclexchange.net and be done with it.  That rear setup caused a ton of stress for me.

The tires.  These are discontinued.  The only way to still get them is buy hoping to find them on ebay.

Sadly, the engine is stock- but suprisingly torquey non-the-less.

Anywho... next up is my personal 750SS.  I guess we'll see if I can fab a mono rear shock setup.

JP, Fantastic job on the 750! 8) I've seen some tough looking XS650 Trackers and never a Honda. It made me wonder why no one thought to do a Honda and so, I never ventured that way either. Really is a cool look. You have every right to be proud of the work you've done. ;) Thanks for showing it to us but, like others before me, We Want More Pictures Please. Again, Fantastic Job!

                                                       Later on, Bill :) ;)
