550 rear cush hub removal

Any tricks to getting cush drive hub loose? I've pryed, beat from inside drum outward, used sprocket
as a slidehammer, all till I'm blue faced to no avail. what am I missing? Am I fighting an internal o ring? Hub/sprocket should just pull out yes? thanks..

Do you have the bearing retainer out? If not, you must drill out the stakes in the 4 places. Then carefully unscrew the retainer. That removes, allowing the cush drive to be pulled out.

I had the same problem this weekend. I did exactly as Cal says above but my retainer (K3) was reverse threaded. I had to turn it clockwise to remove. The retainer is accessed by removing the sprocket.

Thanks guys. I'd have been there for a long time otherwise. Definately different than my 750.

Make sure you drill the stakes out deep enough too. When reinstalling, just use some Blue LocTite and call it a day (and some antisieze on the retainer threads).
