How do you carry the passenger's helmet when they are not around to support it?
Lash it to the seat? Side bars? I don't want to get it scratched up.

My extra fits pretty well behind my leg on the helmet hook.

i held it on the "helmet holder" hook when i had one

it does not cause problems unless you need to kick start the bike. mine is a 76' though so it might be different than yours.

anyone have a pic of a helmet hook or a page ref from the manual?
A pic of it in use would help too.,...does the helmet get banged up at all?

Hey Dave,

There is a lock under the right side of your seat. When you unlock it, your seat swings up towards the left side of your bike. There's a hook (see pic) where you put the D-ring of your helmet strap. When you lower the seat back and it locks into place, your helmet is secure (as the long as the strap isn't cut, etc.) I don't use it since I have a hard bag right there in the way, but that's the idea that Andrew was referring to.

I have heard dire warnings about riding with a helmet locked on the side of the bike, I suppose because of the effects on handling or aerodynamics. That said, I've done it many a time. Probably not the best idea for a long day on the highway.

Another way to do it is to strap it to the pillion with a bungee cord net.

The most usual way in Spain is to carry it pillion, attached to the seat by means of a bungee cargo net with hooks to the fender.

I did that a few time, but stopped when the helmet was damaged from rubbing on the rear tire. The damage was to the rim around the bottom of the helmet. Nothing structural, thankfully. It is strange to hear that many other people do it without issue. I wonder if my damage was because I don't have a grab bar. Anyway, be careful.

I'll clarify: I don't use my helmet lock when parked, b/c the hard bag is in the way. I don't think I'd like riding like that. But now you know where it is.

maybe mine is different cause i have an F, but it had two helmet hooks, one was where the one pictured is, the other was much further up, left the base of the helmet against the sidecover, sat there nice, tucked up under you knee, but had to hold it outta the way to kick start...

Andrew's right. There are two, located as he said; one for rider and one for passenger.

Don't know why I spaced out on that. Sorry.

Either way, you'll find them both when you lift the seat. The rider's is on the frame member ~ above the oil tank, the passenger's on the crosspiece over the fender as pictured.

Auuugghh! Is this not the HONDA forum?

My seat hinges on the right! The lock is on the left!! I see no helmet hook!!!
Maybe its not a real Honda CB750 but I have been cheated with a poorly-made knock-off!
See pic, where to put helmet strap?
While we're at it, go ahead and engineer me a rear mount for the sissy bar (see sissy bar post)!

Okay. Older model CB750's did have right hinged seats, or so I've read. At least in England. (Honda CB750 by Mick Duckworth is kind of a nice read.) Uh, Texas *is* near England, right mate?

Next...I don't have a clue about your helmet hook. I've never seen an older CB750.

Well, I don't know. I don't think the '70 K model is all that rare. I just haven't seen any. But I haven't been looking.

Still, judging by the condition apparent in your partial photos, it's in great shape. That certainly helps the value.

So, did you find the helmet hook? Is it further forward?

Let us know where to look for you and your bike if we ride down that way come spring/summer.

Maybe I should take that back. 1970 was only the second year of production, wasn't it? What's your frame #?

Here is what the earliest seat (K0) looked like. It hinged on the right and there was no keyed lock. The little hook in the inset on the lower-left of the attachment served as both latch security and a helmet hook. You would pull the hook out and twist it slightly in order the release the seat latch.

Regarding helmet holders, this is from a '78F owners manual..."The helmet holder is designed for helmet security while parking. Do not operate the motorcycle with a helmet attached to the holder as the helmet may interfere with the rear wheel causing damage to the helmet and possible stoppage of the wheel."

Interesting that they put helmet damage before "stoppage of the wheel".
