"New" horse for the stable - 2001 Triumph Sprint ST
« on: March 31, 2017, 12:19:53 AM »
So this little gem fell into my lap. I got it for a steal! I've always wanted a sport touring bike. The deal was too good to pass up.

It is a fuel injected 955 triple. Only 9000 miles on the clock. The PO installed a carbon slip-on, carbon dress up covers, new fuel pump, and new tires. It also came with all 3 color matched hard bags ($1k upgrade). I'm amazed with the bike so far. It's super comfy. I payed less for this than the cb750. 😲

Pros: It's very quick and cruises the highway very well. Power delivery is super smooth. Very responsive steering and amazing brakes. It has all the bells and whistles of a modern bike. The hard bags are big enough to fit everything and the kitchen sink. I fit the bikey like a glove, being a bigger guy and all (5"11' 250lbs).

Cons: The suspension is a little mushy. One fork seal started leaking today. The windscreen isn't quite tall enough. The wind hits me right in the neck. I will likely upgrade it.

I'm still getting acquainted with the bike. Overly pleased with the purchase. I plan to hit the mountains to the east this weekend and see what it can really do.

My 72 CB750 and 66 305 Super Hawk share the garage with a 71 BSA Lightning and a 2000 1200 Sportster.  Everybody gets along just fine.  ;D

The rocket is really sick bike. I'd love to have one, but a little out of my price range.

Sweet Je-sus. That Rocket 3 is a land yacht.  Although you could rig 2 of its motors together with turbos and go for a land speed record.
