I'm missing a part!
« on: December 12, 2006, 11:07:00 AM »
I guess I'm not very observant but I just noticed yesterday that the left side has more parts than the right side.
See pic.
What part is that?  Whats it called?
Is there suppposed to be one on the right?

Anyone have a spare I can buy?

1970 CB750

Thanks

Peter

That is a center stand lift handle(lifting point for getting bike up on center stand).....there is only one on the leftside.

If you are talking about your center stand lift handle, those were only installed on one side.

That little bar/handle on the left is supposed to be there.  I've never seen one on the right side of a bike.  When you put the bike up on the center stand, for instance, it gives you a solid, stable handhold instead of grabbing the seat edge and eventually bending it.

Three of our bikes (the ones in my signature) all had them at one point.  We still have it on the Triumph.  The Yamaha has a rack that does the same job, and the Honda has a full wrap-around grab bar.  Only my wife's Shadow didn't come with one.  Mind you, it doesn't have a center stand or kick starter, either.  Silly cruiser types...  ;)

Enough said. Mine didn't came with it but I buy it directly from Honda. 24 euro (ouch).

I thought about putting another one in the other side, but due to the high price and the fact that I never lift the bike from that side, I left it with only one as it came from the factory. As they've pointed out, many people ended up with bent seat pants for grabbing the seat in order to lift the bike.

Dave,

If you want to see yet another left vs. right difference, look down at your footpegs from directly over the fuel tank.  :)

Raul, just a guess, dosn't the center stand have an extension that you press down on with your foot when lifting your bike onto the stand ?

Just so left handed people don't get the wrong idea and think it would be cool to have another handle as there is no press down on the right hand side of the bike.

In fact, I don't think it's possible to lift the bike up without that extension and the body weight upon the centerstand extension...
