Parts for CB750F
« on: March 19, 2017, 01:30:49 PM »
Putting together a fully restored F0.

I'm having trouble finding some basic parts, though.

2 x 61312-392-000
2 x 80106-329-690

Any help is appreciated!

Ah yes the rubber grommets at the bottom of the headlight frame and the metal inserts for the top. Those do seem to be not available anywhere. Have you cruised the bins in a well stocked old school hardware store yet to see if anything could be modified a little ? Hopefully someone on here has a couple extra of each or try the parts wanted or maybe a suggestion.  I remember shopping for that bracket on a bike that came to me with a fairing and had to look awhile to find one with all those pieces still intact.  Good luck on your hunt.

Those I believe are for the headlight bucket the ones he need (2) are bigger for the headlight frame bracket. For that spot actually just a couple flat washers would work probably. Those bushings (2) at the bottom of frame are more important.

You are correct. I guess I should have gone straight to the parts fiche first, as much as I was trying to avoid doing so...  :P

See topic 101949.0 by tugboat in Feb of 2012.  They talk about these as fender mount parts on fenders.

I wondered if 400F sidecover grommets would work. Aren't they similar?

For the bottom ones I used an expander plug bought at the hardware store and burned it through with a hot 5/16 drill bit. The top ones I had in my boxes of rubber goodies from a Kawasaki restoration, they fit just fine. You should be able to also rig something up with those from the hardware store, they don't have to be perfect, just rubber mounting the headlight. Oh, and when I say a hardware store I don't mean Home Depot. I mean a REAL hardware store.

Awesome. Yep, we got some "real" hardware stores around here, which is great.

Do you have any pictures to share of what you did?

Let me know if you find something before I go digging through my stuff.  I took all that off of my F0 and don't need any of it.  Are the grommets on the headlight bracket or the triple clamp...I can't tell from that picture link..

Pretty sure I mentioned it in my build report.

Thanks. I picked up some of those at the hardware store. Do these have to be a certain length?

Next time I go to my shop, probably a day or two, I will grab a 750F headlight bracket I got with those parts and can give you some good pics and dimensions if those are still needed. At one time in the not to distant past member Chewbacca (or however its spelled  :)) had one unit he would sell and think it had its bushings, might still be available. Selling in the sellers column now.http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,163824.0.html

Thanks everyone.

Nothing more is needed at this point. I wound up using a larger expander plug for this at the hardware store compared to the one shown in pictures here. It was large enough to have a "snug fit" inside of the holes in the opening, which I would think is more ideal vs the smaller expander plugs that is shown here which has a little bit of flop. I'll take some pictures if you guys are curious.

Also, the larger expander plug requires no drilling.
