So long story short, I bought the complete Cognito Moto GSXR conversion kit with 17" wheels (front and rear) for my CB750 K5, but now that I have the brakes dialed in correctly and the engine running strong, I kind of want to keep the bike more orignal-ish. Plus, I've heard that beyond the insane braking, the swap doesn't really improve the handling that much. So I'm gonna ditch the GXSR swap and and just upgrade the stock suspension.

I was thinking of doing the Cycle X 2" lower front forks with Icon 11" rear shocks. YES, I want to do this for aesthetics because I think the front of the bike looks like a pogo stick, but NO I won't do it if it will degrade the handling at all. My stock forks are rusted really bad on the top portion and have a big chip on one of the lower portions, so fork oil is constantly leaking out and splattering on the brakes and exhaust, so I need to purchase new forks no matter what.

This bike is on the freeway 95% of the time, and I'll probably get some rearsets soon, so I'm not worried about dragging any pegs.

Any help would be great!!

....oh and here's a photo of my bike cause everyone likes photos (yes, I know I need a front fender  ;) )

The gsxr inverted fork really is the better design.  Larger diameter, stiffer design, internal fluid damping cartridge.

If you thought the outside of the oem forks looked like a pogo stick, wait til you see inside.  It IS a pogo stick.  (With minimal fluid damping.)

The main benefits of the usd forks is in when you get them setuo for your weight and the weight of the bike.  Plus quality shocks to go with them

exactly, plus the gsxr trees have much less offset and are shorter also which is gonna throw the rake and trail numbers for a loop.  In order for the gsxr front end to work, all this must be carefully measured and adjusted.  Otherwise, your bike will handle WORSE with a gsxr front end, despite the superior dampening and rigidity.

Lowering equal amounts in the front and rear should not affect cornering very much but you will lose valuable amounts of suspension travel and ground clearance.

Your frontend looks like a pogo stick because you don't have a front fender or the gaiters that are correct for your bike.  It performs like a pogostick too?...how about springs and emulators from racetech and a talk with one of their techs WILL bag you a frontend that works and is nearly as adjustable as a gsxr front end, all with vintage looks and correct geometry.
If it works good, it looks good...
