They are plastic Steve which makes them even harder to find without crack or the mounting slots on the top unbroken. The emblem is metal which will make it easier to restore.

Yes, I recently bought two little smokers. The baby Triple is a 350cc though, an S2 [S1 ia a 250]. That one will be sitting awhile waiting it's turn, needs total resto after sitting since '88.

The new Suzi toy is a '66 X6 Hustler, a nostalgic buy as it was my first "real bike" when I was 14 [had a Puch moped before that]

Had both the smokers shipped from the east coast, the Suzi is a runner with title, paid only $1350.  Here was when I got it...




And the first ride down to the local campground, was spotting sites on Lake Travis, my sister is coming to visit this weekend in her RV....




No pic but it has the same gauges as Terry posted above but has 17K miles.
Runs but def needs a tune up and tires.

The X6 Hustler earned the reputation of being the first production motorcycle of less than 500cc that could do 100 MPH. ;D

1965 and  1966 Ducati Mach 1, and Mark Iii. 250 4 strokes were rated at 103 and 105 mph.

 Very well done Steve, that model is a classic and a real deal early one. Think they came out in 1965 as the T20. Looks like a very nice original survivor. I wish just once I could buy a project that actually runs before I get it  :D
  I think I need to get one of those TDC piston gauges someday maybe that screw in the spark plug holes to really dial these two strokes in while doing a tune up.
  Did you see that on Craigslist or E-bay or get it from word of mouth ?  I like that your collection is growing and including nice bikes from all of the big 4 JAP manufactures. Variety is the spice of life !!

Yes, the X6 is technically known as the T20, that is on the frame plate.  I found the Baby Triple through GUTS, he is on this forum as well at the Triples forum.  He found it through his gun forum but didnt want it [he already has a few], passed it on to me.
It was in Philly so I searched the Philly CL and found the X6 called and made an offer.
Always better to ship in pairs!

Yes, the dial indicator is the best way to time a two stroke. Sean is correct, there are DYI's all over the 'net, I have gotten as far as prepping the spark plug, now I need to get a dial indicator.  Here is one method....

The dial indicator is the most accurate and it's really worth it finding one that's already purposed/made for timing a motorcycle.I noticed online they have a cheap $69 kit marketed as 'PVL' which says it has a 14mm spark plug adapter.There is no comparison to getting a new set of quality oem points and setting them w/ a quality gauge;timing is everything.

Sean, When i was 17 the head-mechanic trained me to use the dial indicator so I didn't ever look for TDC or timing marks.

T500 head has an offset plug and thus the dial gauge won't sit vertically so you need to know your geometry mathamatics  :)
