top triple tree for 1976 750k

So there are many of us (i think) who would like to have a top clamp minus the little nubbly risers where the stock bars go (obviously, this could only benfit those using clip-ons).  There are a number of people who are machining and fabricating top clamps from billet that eliminate those bar-mounting brackets, but unfortunately, they are usually pretty pricey.  I was pondering the idea of making my own top clamp, either by machining or casting (followed by machining), but I am not able to, at this time, get to my bike to take off the top clamp to take measurements (fork tube dim. are obviously 35mm, but distance from eachother, and placement of steering stem hole are unknown to me.)  Does anyone here have, or know where I can acquire, the dimensions I am looking for?  I have looked in a couple of different manuals for these bikes, and nothing like this seems to be listed.  I hope this makes sense, because I am stumped and really anxious to give this a try.

I know you are simply asking for dimensions but I would think that your best bet would be to template off the stock piece.  Looking at the piece in all three dimensions including its contours and thicknesses at various places and noting its method(s) for pinching the fork and steering stem would all seem to be a good place to start.  It may not be the most complicated part to make but it must be strong and it must match up perfectly with the tree bottom.  It would certainly take a good bit of work  to make the part and it  would be pretty disappointing to go to all the trouble only to find that dimensions were off or that you missed some pretty basic design criteria!  I actually have a 78F and a 78K top clamp that you could examine but I know for sure that the later trees brought the forks closer to the steering pivot (in a front to back dimension) so that they probably wouldn't be much help to you, unless you want to use the late tree bottom as well.    Perhaps someone could send you the correct part . . . .Try this link http://www.mginproducts.com/Honda%20CB750%201969-76%20Triple%20Tree.html
if you want to see some good pictures of billet top clamps for the 750.    Good luck.
