Hi all.

I have had a search but no luck in finding an answer.

Cb750 F1

I removed my neutral switch to inspect/clean as I couldnt get the neutral switch to turn off. Now I cant get the switch back in the motor all the wayand I also cant change gears out of 2nd or 3rd (i think - possibly 3rd & 4th, either way I cant get it back to neutral to find the indent).

It looks as though the shift drum is now stopping the switch from going all the way back in (sits out by ~5mm). I have tried rolling the bike, kicking it over clutch etc etc but cant get the switch in OR change gears.

Any ideas?

Cheers

The neutral switch acts as a jetway for the shifter drum. It has to line up with slot in drum. Put O ring on switch first. May have to remove shifter cover to mine drum till lined up

Jiggle the shift drum outward once lined up.

The end of the nuetral switch fits into a groove in the shift drum; notice the vertical line below the ball in the attached pic, where the side of the groove has rubbed against the switch body. You may be able to move the drum from side to side with a screwdriver through the switch hole to align the groove with the switch. The trans should be in neutral before fully seating the switch, as there is a depression in the drum that the ball fits into. The o-ring should be installed into the case first, not on the switch.

SOLVED.

For the info of others I had inadvertently hit the gear leaver and changed up to 2nd, possibly twice up to 3rd.with out the neutral switch in it allowed the shift drum to be pushed slightly to the side when trying to move the dogs.

I couldn't shift the drum across enough with a screwdriver so removed the gear change cover and pushed it across while inserting the neutral switch from beneath. It took quite a bit of force, likely as it was trying to push the dogs across.

Thanks for the ideas.
