just wanted to let you guys know what i thought, and feel free to add your comments as well...
i recently went thru a set of metzler sportec m-1 tires on my 92 zx7r. when the time came i knew i wanted something a bit stickier but, its hard to judge by all the ads. i was also needing to not spend to much of my college budget so i opted for a pair of dunlop d207 radials.
the difference between the radials (dunlop d207)and bias ply (metzler sportec m-1) tire is amazing. now, with the radials, the bike is unsure of itself... especially on engine braking with no hands. there is no tank slap but, i get scared there might be. just a lot more shimmy in certain spots compared to the bias ply. i'm still not sure which tire is stickier as i really have to work to get that bike unstuck... it is usually hard into a corner at about 70+ mph that i can feel it squirrel out. these seem to be sticking better in that regard but, it could simply be they have more tread.
so, in my tire/tyre shootout i claim metzler the winner (but, next time i'll be getting the sportec m-3... they are supposed to be just what i'm looking for over the m-1)
