About a week ago I went for a 20 mile ride.  During the ride the speedometer stopped working.  It had worked for about 200 miles.  After much trouble shooting I was able to determine the electronics of the pickup are in good working condition.  The mechanical side had gotten egged shaped and the slot widened so that it would no longer spin.  If I stuck a small screw driver in and spun it,  the speedometer worked.

I found a NOS speed sensor assembly on e-bay.  With the new unit installed the speedo is working again.

Been working on the seat.  Moved the backrest back 6 1/2".  Here is the foam buildup.

Below is the seat with a temporary cover.

Today's test ride along Lake Superior.

On my gl1000 I replaced the new but parked for 20 years timing belts. At Sturgis last year I began to hear the bearing in the right timing belt idler. It sounds like an old cheap roller skate wheel. Anyway I found info on the naked Goldwing site and rebuilt the original idlers with new Hyundai idlers and a pair of wheel studs. Outlined in my thread here in case it ever comes up.
I use the Asian car antifreeze premix from advance although some guys say any antifreeze works as long as you don't mix incompatible types. My gas cap was awfully rusty and at that time I hadn't found a part number for a replacement so I soaked it in vinegar for a few days.
I did the water pump and seals and the fuel pump just because I planned long trips on it.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Don,

Are you running naked or with the Vetter fairing?

If all goes well with the electronic cruise control I am adding, I am planning on doing a Saddle sore 1000 on the bike later this year.
