I have a Yamaha Part number; what bike does it go to?
« on: December 16, 2006, 07:07:52 AM »
So the mufflers that were on my KZ550 when I got it were off of a Yamaha (you can tell because they are clearly stamped "Yamaha" right on them). I have the part number, but does anyone know where I might be able to do a search by Yamaha part number to find out what bike these went on origanlly? They are in good shape and thought I might be able to sell them on ebay or something if I can figure out what they go to.

If you go to the yamaha website in the US you can access the parts lists there
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

The first three digits of a Yamaha part number denote the model on which it's to be installed.

Try this link for a list:

Turns out they came off a Radian. Good. Now I can clean them up and sell them.

As it turns out, flatblack, the radian, is one of the few models not listed on that link you posted. BUT, that link still pointed me inthe right direction.  Thanks again

Figures. Glad that helped, however minimally...
