My first cb650 custom project
« on: July 05, 2017, 11:06:47 AM »
Good afternoon, morning, evening

Just purchased a nice little cb650 custom that was imported over from America in 1996.
Engine a sweet runner pulls really nice.

To be honest I didn't really do my homework and just bought this as an impulse buy and it was practically my next door neighbour selling it.

My current plans is to cafe racer/brat style the bike. However I've read post all over the place that suggests that this is not the best frame to do this kind of modifications to.
However I like a challenge and if I mess it up you can always say I told you so.

Pictures provided for you viewing pleasure.

Bike before hand
Then after a quick mod on indicators, brake lights and that of a new rear fender I made from scratch

I have bought some 2007 gsxr front forks, lower yokes, and X2 calipers.
Pressed out the stem from the lower yoke and want to send that for anodizing before I press in the new one that I bought from cognitomoto.

Today I built a fork spring compressor tool ready for stripping fork down to have new seals and oil

Any input / constructive criticism very much welcome
