74 836 rebuild
« on: July 05, 2017, 02:01:59 PM »
This is going to take awhile. Found this in an antique shop in VA!
It was apart in a bin but as far as I've seen it's all there but the exhaust.
Any way got the head and jugs back today.
Have a Cruzin image 836 pistons getting ready to go back together.
Does anyone know the order of these rings to go on the pistons?
Thanks

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

You bought a basket case in bins from an antique shop in VA? Are you sure you were not raiding Cal's garage for parts?!

I hope you got a deal since it's always a ? whether you have all the parts.

Yeah its all there, maybe a washer or two. I had it together sans pistons to see whats missing. Bought a 71 cam with towers and valve train also from a known source. I should have what I need.  Figured out the ring order. The two bottoms were real thin and together. I thought I didnt have enough rings. The seat tank side covers and chrome are very nice! Bike had 15K miles and was off road since 85. The carbs are gummy but not stuck. I think it might have the original front tire! Brake is seized up, normal. Paid 350$
