Jesus! After being locked into hand-to-hand combat with my Nighthawk for a year I finally took her out today.
Sorry no pics - not quite there yet.
It took 3 attempts of cleaning the carbs before I got them CLEAN.
Put on choke - fires right up, wait 10 seconds, turn choke off. Idles clean if unsteady.
Take her out on the road - she rides.
Things to fix:
Smokes like a fiend from the right 2 cylinders - possibly just crud from previous work, I'll watch and wait.
Unsteady idle - probably needs to be synced
High idle. Idles at ~1500 rpm and I suspect higher once it warms well up. Idle screw turned all the way out. Suspect its pilot screw it tuned too rich.
Lag off the throttle. Doesn't bog or die, just hesitates then surges. Suspect the pilot screw is too rich. I have it 3 turns out, will drop it down to 2 and recheck.
