Greetings from Texas!
« on: April 11, 2017, 03:36:05 PM »
Hey there! My name is Wesley, and I just got my first bike! 😀 I have been riding for.... 5 days haha. Took my basic riders course, and never looked back. I picked up a 1982 CB650sc for $1500 in running condition, 24,xxx miles. It is pretty darn clean, just need to fix the horn for inspection and chase down a power flat spot around 3000-4000 rpm range under load. I'll post pictures later today or tomorrow. Oh, I'm 26, currently active duty military, and am loving my CB650!

Thanks GV1390! I know ill probably be here a lot, lol. My journey with this bike has just begun. My goal is to get it running a little smoother, take care of some basic maintenance (tires, brake pads, take a closer look at the shocks and front forks, oil) then build it into something of an 80's interpretation of a cafe racer. I plan on trying an alternative to the stock airbox (not pods!) That I think will provide even and stable, but improved airflow through the old CV carbs, superbike bars, a custom seat pan and seat, clean up the idiot lights and gauges, and maybe some creative fender work. But first I intend to find my comfort zone riding.

Thought that meant it can only be driven so many miles a year. Besides, I figured there's still at least be the basic safety inspection haha. Ill look into it though

Just confirmed. Antique plates are meant for vehicles "to be driven for special events or maintenance purposes only" and I plan to commute on the bike when I can. Classic plates require a standard safety inspection with the exception of safety equipment that was not standard on the vehicle when manufactured.
