New owner of CB550 from Oklahoma City
« on: May 08, 2016, 10:53:33 PM »
Just brought a low mileage CB550 down from Fargo, ND. It's not very pretty but appears to be in pretty good shape mechanically. Will be seeking your help and knowledge to bring the bike to a finer level. I also have a really special CB160 that I have been working & learning on. The motor was originally built by a Honda tech with some innovative touches. I also have a Board Track Racer tribute bike I built from the ground up. It looks pretty authentic but is kinda unusual being an electric bike that will do an honest 50mph. I'm still trying to figure out how to post photos. Anyway, I look forward to participating on this forum and following all the threads on restorations, builds, etc! And I absolutely love the sound of these inline Fours!

CycleRanger - you're a mind reader! I was just going to ask about manuals.
Thanks!

Easiest way to post photos is to use a Flickr or Photobucket account. Then paste the IMG link within your thread. Welcome, and we anxiously await your photo essay!!!

Well, it's been about a year so you're probably no longer anxiously awaiting a photo essay. :) I get rather easily distracted and I apologize for that! Let me see if I have any luck posting a photo.

Here is my CB160. It has quite a few modifications lurking beneath it's innocent appearance.

Here is my CB550 as it looked when I bought it about a year ago. I couldn't get past the brown paint. And the black powder coating decisions. I decided it was too ugly to bid on and actually deleted it from my eBay watch list! A few weeks later I contacted the seller and bought it. :)

And lastly, here is my Board Track Racer tribute bike. Built this from scratch. Kinda turned into an art project along the way. Will do an honest 50mph. My wife has taken charge of it and I haven't figured out how to get it back yet. :)

Hope to be able to spend more time on this great forum! Every time I do, I learn something new. Of course that may not mean so much, since I don't know much! hahaha.

Great idea, thanks for providing the link M
If I've learned anything about building a motorcycle, it's check and re-check your work before you put it all back together. Although you do gain more experience by doing it twice.
