Topic: Kickstart compatability

I'm sorry if this is a frequently asked question, but I couldn't find much in the forums.
I have a 77 cb750a,My question is, what's keeping me from putting a kick start from a different 77 model on my bike? I see it has a flat spot on the shaft but that's pretty much the only difference I can see, which seems like its not that difficult to work around.
