One Down

Another resto project just got done. Together with a friend of mine ( who owns a paint, powder coating and blasting (incl vapor) business, we finished a Dover White BMW R69S. Goes on sale this weekend after a couple of shakedown rides (weather permitting)
1973 CB350F -sold
1974 CB350F -218 orig miles, sold
1976 CB750K - in restoration

This one is next. 1980 CBX. One of the U.S.-made bikes. Built in Marysville. Serial 11794, built in April of 1980 towards the end of the 1980 model run. It is a little more complete already than it looks here.

My dad and I had an R69S for a while back in the 1980's, but ours had the full leather touring seat on it. It's my "the one that got away" bike.

The R69S came out in 1960 and is probably the most sought-after/desirable/collectable of the /2 BMWs, although some say the R50S, introduced the same year is more collectable. The two-up bench seat was the stock option. I was looking for an original "Schorsch Meier" aftermarket seat for it, but could not find one.
