There were 3 things that caught my eye

1 The o-ring on the air screw
2 Drain hoses on the overflow outlets. I guess that is a no no on those carbs
3 Small crack in the isolator between the carb and head.

When you figger it out post up what cured it, please.

1. O ring is there and new.
2. I have hoses on there, I really don't like over flowing gas onto my freshly painted engine. I suppose I can take those off and see what happens
3. No cracks in the isolator

Cold compression reading was 150 psi on both sides. Valve gaps were correct at .004 inch. I noticed the plug looked unused still after the bike had run for maybe 10 minutes. Just a slight brown mark in one spot.  I would say, it seems to not be getting any fuel. Definitely lean. The old plug was probably black from earlier on when it was only running on the left cylinder. It's such a weird coincidence that the left side quick working exactly when the right started working

Someone on that 305 site said removing the hoses did the trick for him, IDK. But it is something cheap and easy to try, do it I dare you!

Got back to this today. I tried removing the drain hoses, it did nothing. I also tried swapping fuel lines just to see if maybe it's a petcock issue. That also made no difference.  I went ahead and swapped the carbs to see if the issue would follow and it did. At least that narrows it down to a problem with that carb. A few days ago, I decided throwing money at the problem would be my course of action, so I ordered a new set of carbs. I'm currently getting them cleaned up and ready to go on. I'm hoping this solves the problem and I can get on to touching up the engine and exhaust paint that's been trashed by all the tiny fuel spills from unhooking the fuel lines and bowls over and over.

Oh well, so much for the cheap fixes. Hope the new carbs sort things out for you.

Keihin 26mm. The ones I got are for the later bikes. I don't think it will really matter, though

I got the new carbs installed today. No more popping from the left exhaust. I do however have light popping from the right, mostly on deceleration, not so much at idle. I did notice during the install that the o ring on the right between the insulator and the head has swollen and isn't fitting correctly, so I'm rather certain that that is the cause of the popping. I have a new one ordered, so I won't be messing with it more until that comes in. I did ride the bike for about 20 minutes. I don't think I'm a fan of the clubmans. I don't remember hating them on my old rd200, but I do now. I'm probably going to trade them out for drag bars or super bike bars.

I think your on to something with the O ring, Dave.

I hate club mans too, so uncomfortable!    Another option is the Norman Hyde M bars,  I have them on my 550.    Good looks and comfortable.

Uncomfortable feeling of clubmans may have something to do with age :P   I hate them BTW, but being 70 has nothing to do with that ::)

Since this project is wrapping up, I went ahead and picked up a new one... A 66 s90. It's been sitting in a building since 1985. A bit crusty, but it's all there and looks like it will clean up ok. Parts look to be pretty cheap for it, which is definitely a good thing.

Be aware there are a TON of changes for motors as well as chassis over time... 4 different gasket sets for the motor for one thing.
That is an early model with offset carb and that airbox is very hard to find replacement parts for...hope it is complete.
The carb looks like it is missing the top and cable and hopefully not the piston.
Yahoo S90 group is excellent resource for parts as well as info and advice.  Great group of owners there.
I have a 11/69 build S90 with ruby red metallic paint and chromed fenders.  Latest S90 build the list has I believe.  Has a build plate on the headstock, not seen by others with their S90s.  Your wiring harness inside the frame below the tank should have a tag on it that will give you a year of the harness, likely the year your bike was built.

Thanks for the info. The carb and air box are both complete, the parts are in a box that cane with it. The only things it's missing are foot peg rubbers and the throttle sleeve. The throttle cable is also broken. From what I've gathered, it looks like these have a weird throttle control setup, not like anything I've seen on other old hondas

My new o rings came in today. I went to replace the right one (popping side) and found this with the expanded o ring hanging out the hole.

So I had to order a new insulator. The left side wasn't damaged, but the o ring seemed to be expanding as well so I replaced it to hopefully prevent myself from having to do this again the future.

Every time I think I've ordered the last part, I end up needing more.

Cmon Dave, you know it never ends!  (Unless you sell it).

As least Honda parts are readily available and fairly reasonable, unlike H2 parts.

Depends on the bike and the part. I've been looking for a gear shift for my bomber for a year and haven't found one yet

Have you searched the part number?

This one won't work??

This is why I have the saying, an old part may work, but a new part will work. I've gotten to the point when I start a project, I basically toss everything other than the motor and frame and buy all new. Then the motor gets everything new inside as well lol. Expensive, but then like new!

Pretty much everything I could get new on this bike is new, including the o ring that failed. I think I just used the wrong kind. Unfortunately the insulators aren't available new, so I'll have to use a "new" old one. I'm with you though,  I try to use as many new parts as I can

DrATV in Nebraska can sell you those throttle parts far cheaper than most ebay sellers.  Pick up his cam for the S90, drop in replacement giving you a nice fatter torque curve mainly in low and midrange; worth the 35-36$.
He has a good selection of parts.  I believe the S90 group has scans of all the gasket kits which will tell you which kit you need to order.  You have steel cylinder...were a couple variants of cylinders.  Not all CT90 parts will work on S90 but there are many common between...

Thanks, I went there for most of what I needed. They showed the throttle sleeve as discontinued. I got one on eBay for 25.

Go to the 305 forum, those guys can source all kinds of stuff! The member Loud Mouse also seems to have a good collection of spare stuff. Good luck in the hunt.
