Why take a chance with some yahoo trying to "match them up"?

Why not just buy the proper, high quality Honda part? To save a buck?

I agree. While it might work, it would suck to be chasing an issue and then second guessing if what you thought would work is actually working.

That's a o ring for a 1977 Honda cb400f. Note the Honda part #. The look at the size. Can be bought by size and not Honda part #.

well i think my question was fairly straight forward stev-o.  tell me where you got yours.  what size are they and is there a part number?  i ride a 76 750.

There is no oring there on a 750 [550 has em]

I thought you meant the intake valve tappet cover part # 91302-001-020  $2.42

Hmm I was under the impression that was a place where vacuum leaks could occur. After the carb holders.

Viton o-rings can be bought cheap at theoringstore.com with the size listed on the fiche, or directly thru a honda dealership if you have the part #

I never even managed to get those intake spigots off -- I assumed they were some kind of special case with permanent threadlocker or something. I doubt MRieck removed them when he did my head either. I don't think it's something to worry about.

The carb boots clamp to the stub outs on the head no oring.  You can still buy new OEM boots from Davidsilverspares.com

I checked out one of those cheap kits but seem to remember that some specific sizes I needed for a 750 engine were not in the kit. Found a good seller on E-bay and ordered the specific sizes I needed for the engine and carbs. That kit is handy though to have around the shop I'm sure.

i agree, get the right part.  part of this post was also trying to figure out what i needed.  still trying to eliminate any vacuum leaks in the airbox/carb set up.  i was lucky enough to find the correct o-rings at a local auto parts store that go on the ridged tubes between carbs 1&2 and 3&4.  i mean perfect fit, correct size, worked like a dream for only a few bucks.

 I am sure you have sprayed carb or brake cleaner at the carb joints like the manifolds to see if there is a change while running ? On most of my 750's I change out the old crappy clamps on the manifolds. The combination of the old hard shrunk rubber and the crappy old stretched a little stock clamps with their built in stops don't do it for me.

I have learned my lesson on orings that almost fit. If I have the actual size called for in my kit that's great, but I nearly never do.

have the beefy clamps on the carb boots.  sprayed and no leaks there.  old clamps on airbox side.  sprayed and found leaks there.  waiting to get some dough together for an order.  new airbox boot clamps, new jets as i believe mine are wrong size, need to clean and bench sync carbs again, new carb boots, new advance springs.

PO says they were changed.  no marks.  i believe these are what i need main110  slow40.  figure i'll change for stock kehin.  can't hurt.

I have been running all HF orings in my daily ridden bike for 5 years. Works perfect and only cost me about $7 and no leaks to date.
