Hey loudpipe,
That f3  should do 105 in 4th gear!
The thing about common sense is that, it's not that common.

I was being chased by some maniac Trucker for some reason i could never figure out. Downhill those Trucks can move. I took a quick glance down and the needle was around 100 mph which actually made things worse for me. I lost him on the next steep upgrade, got off at the next exit. While I know my 750 will do 100 dead stock, I don't do it. 75 MPH is my limit - too much wind noise, and too much strain on my aging wrists to hold on.

I've had my '76 750 up to the 120 neighborhood once.  It was very difficult to hold on, due to the wind, watch the road and look at the speedo.  I simply held it open until it quit climbing in revs.  That was with stock 18/48 sprockets.  Now I run 17/48's.  I wouldn't want to go any faster on that particular bike!  My speed limit for having fun is 90, but I always let the conditions dictate my fun speed.  I never outrun my vision.  Normally I run the speed limit.
My dog loves me for the person I try to be.  Either that or he's hungry.

Here are the indicated speeds I've seen on SOHC 750's

71 K1 which all who saw it run said it ran faster than any stock one they'd seen.
It also beat 900's, it would show 130, I did it quite regularly.

78 750 (was that the k8? :)) would show 125 wound out.

81 750 sohc would show 125 but felt quicker.

77 750 f fastest I've seen on it round here is 110, the straights aren't long enough :(

Back when the engine was stock except for custom 4-into-1 pipes and re jetted carb's, I got me cafe CB350 up to 100mph by tucking in behind the small farring.
Now it has a hot street cam and hot coils but no farring to cut the wind yet so I can't get up to full speed yet.  But I wouldn't know how fast I was going any ways because I removed the speedo.  I don't need to know, just as long as it gets the blood pumping! ;)
